Privacy policy

LifeTown Connect is run by Friendship Circle NJ, a nonprofit in Livingston, New Jersey. This policy explains what information we collect through the LifeTown Connect website and app, why we collect it, who sees it, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.
What we collect
Account and contact information. Your name, email address, phone number, and address. Your password is protected by our sign-in provider — we never see it or store it in readable form.
Family and participant profiles. Information a parent or guardian chooses to share about their children so we can run programs safely: names, birthdates, and any support needs, medical notes, dietary needs, or emergency contacts you provide.
Volunteer information. Your application details, availability, volunteer hours, and training status. For roles that require screening, we receive background-check results from our screening provider.
Registrations and attendance. Which programs you or your children sign up for, check-ins, and cancellations.
Payment records. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and never touches our servers — we keep the transaction record (amount, date, and status).
Photos. Profile photos you upload, handled according to the photo permissions you set in your signed forms.
Messages and signed forms. Messages you send through the app, your email and text preferences, and waivers or agreements you sign — including the date, time, and signer recorded with each signature.
Technical basics. The service keeps you signed in using cookies or local storage and keeps routine logs to stay reliable. We do not use advertising trackers.
Children's information
Information about children comes from their parents or guardians — we do not collect it from children directly. We use it only to run our programs safely and well. Parents and guardians can see and update their children's profiles in the app at any time.
How we use your information
We use what we collect to run programs and scheduling; to keep participants safe (for example, sharing an allergy or support need with the staff who need to know); to process payments; to coordinate volunteers; to send you the emails and texts you have asked for; and to keep the records a nonprofit is required to keep.
Who we share it with
Service providers that help us run the platform. Hosting and database (Supabase), web delivery (Cloudflare), payments (Stripe), email delivery (Postmark), text messaging (Twilio), volunteer background checks (Sterling Volunteers), and our internal constituent database (Salesforce). Each provider receives only what it needs to do its job.
Within our organization. Staff and screened volunteers see only the information their role requires.
When the law requires it, or when sharing is necessary to protect someone's safety.
We never sell your information, and we never share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you have an account, plus whatever record-keeping the law requires of us afterward — for example, financial records and signed waivers. You can ask us to close your account at any time using the contact information below.
How we protect it
Your information is encrypted in transit, access inside the platform is limited by role, and payment details are handled by Stripe rather than stored by us. No system is perfect — if you believe you have found a security problem, please tell us right away.
Your choices
Update your family's information any time in the app.
Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message.
Reply STOP to any text message to stop receiving texts.
Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to close your account, using the contact information below.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change meaningfully affects how we handle your information, we will let you know directly.
